The room refrigerator is cooled by absorbing heat from the air inside the refrigerator room. Heat absorption is performed by a special substance called Freon. Freon is passed through small pipes on the rear of the room refrigerator. Circulation of heat absorption occurs in the room refrigerator and disposal of the heat out of the refrigerator is carried by freon, so the room refrigerator to cool.
If the freon flows to all parts of the room fridge, then the electrical energy would be much used. It is not efficient. Therefore, the refrigerant flows only to a certain part of the refrigerator, and it is the freezer section.
When the air cools, its volume shrinks. The volume shrinkage causes enlarged air density. As a result, cold air is heavier than warm air. Cold air is heavier it will move down while the lighter warm air will replace the cold air above.
Based on this principle, the existing cold air in the freezer will move down. Warm air that is under the freezer and then will go up into the freezer to be cooled again. So it went on until the entire room refrigerator to cool.
Well, if the freezer was put under, the cold air will remain in the form below and may not move up. This will lead to the top of the refrigerator room will never be cool. That is why the freezer fridge never put under.
The same principle is also the reason why AC is placed on top of the room, not near the floor. AC is placed on top of the room will blow cold air flowing down so people who were in that room will feel cool as a whole. If the air conditioner installed near the floor, so that the air will feel cool just on the surface of the floor, while the top stays hot air.
